The meeting began with silence.

The treasurer’s report was heard. The treasurer pointed out that the value of our investments has declined because of the problems in the stock market. Friends should be aware that Penn Valley Meeting remains short of money. The report was accepted.

The house upkeep committee report was heard. The hot water heater is failing. There are several other items of concern. Friends discussed the hot water problem. We will do more research and discuss this again next month. The report was accepted.

The Ministry and Counsel report was heard. The report was accepted.

The program committee report was heard. The report was accepted.

The Quaker Education committee report was heard with the program committee report. The report was accepted.

The Peace and Social Concerns committee report was given verbally. Friends will visit our elected officials and discuss our concern about torture with them after the election. The clerk will sign the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (NRCAT) letter and Friends will arrange the visits. The report was accepted.
