Minutes, Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business

The meeting began with silence.

The treasurer’s report was heard. Friends agreed to start showing our investments at market value, with adjustments to be made at the beginning
of each year. We will not return the $2,000 taken from the mutual funds in 2008. Penn Valley Meeting is paying Iowa Yearly Meeting quarterly now; half of 2009 has already been paid. We thank the treasurer for his hard work.

The house upkeep report was heard. The basement water heater was repaired with a simple fix. Various other problems were reported. For the time being these problems are “on hold.” The  maximum cost (not yet received) will be $600. Friends discussed long-term decisions. We will ask AFSC whether we can use the basement office space for First Day school during bitter weather. We will use the upstairs furnace as needed for an hour or two a week. We will also re-wire the room for a space heater. The report was accepted.

The Ministry and Counsel report was heard. The report was accepted.

The nominating committee report was heard. Committees not yet filled are: program, publications, and Quaker Education. The report was
accepted. The nominees were accepted.
