Now that winter is upon us, it’s time to remind ourselves of the Snow Day policy we workedout awhile ago. Snow days are when media are reporting bunches of churches are closed, which is as good a standard as any for coming to anagreement, even though we’re scattered and can’t discuss it,that the weather really is awful.

In that case, all obligations that happened because people signed up for things are canceled for the day — tasks volunteered for, committee meetings, after-Meeting program. But Meeting for Worship is a worship experience, not a show that’s only worth doing if enough people show up. It never gets canceled. Of course, it also only happens if people do actually show up for it.

No one is expected to show up for worship, but no one is to be deprived, either, so for any who do show up, we’ll have Meeting for Worship. As a practical matter, though,anyone who doesn’t have a key should either check with anyone who has a key to make sure it will be open. Check your e-mail, because someone with a key may announce that the Meeting House is open. And where two or three are gathered, we’ve still had some rich worship.
